Nebraska, Washington set to meet in Holiday Bowl

Washington is a team on the rise after several years of losing football. The Huskies started the season slow, but ran off wins over UCLA, California and Washington State to finish the season 6-6 and qualify for a bowl game.
Nebraska, meanwhile, had another excellent season, finishing 10-3 and earning the Big 12 North Division championship for the second straight year. The Huskers lost to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship game to close out the season, but are looking to finish the season on the right note with its second straight Holiday Bowl victory.

Tickets available for Holiday Bowl

Plenty of great Husker tickets are still available for the Holiday Bowl, featuring the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Washington Huskies, set for Thursday night at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif.

The Huskers are looking to finish off the 2010 season in fine fashion with a win over a Washington team they have already defeated this season. Back in September, the Huskers traveled to Seattle, Wash., and manhandled the Huskies by a 56-21 margin in a game that was all Huskers.

Since that time, though, Washington has shown quite a bit of improvement. The Huskies come into the game on a three-game winning streak and should give Nebraska a much better matchup the second time around.

Husker tickets are hot for this game, and Nebraska is looking to end the season with an 11-2 mark, its first 11-win season in some time. The game will be played in San Diego, which has experienced quite a bit of flooding in recent days with massive rainstorms taking place in parts of southern California.

Huskers heading back to Holiday Bowl

Don't adjust your computer monitor – this is not a repeat. Nebraska is heading back to the Holiday Bowl.
For the second straight year, the Husker football team is heading to sunny San Diego, Calif., to represent the Big 12 Conference in the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl, set for Dec. 30 at Qualcomm Stadium. Husker tickets are available for the game now at Ticket Express.
Last year, the Huskers ended the 2009 season with a shutout of Arizona. This year, they will face another Pac 10 team in Washington, a team they beat earlier in the year 56-21.
This is the second time in Nebraska's long history that they would face a bowl game rematch of a team they played earlier that season. In 1978, Nebraska defeated Oklahoma, only to be matched up with them six weeks later in the Orange Bowl.
Nebraska is coming off a 23-20 loss to the Sooners in the Big 12 Conference Championship last weekend. They will be looking to post an 11-win season and take a good deal of momentum into next year's first season as a member of the Big Ten Conference.
