Huskers and Oklahoma play for all the Big 12 marbles

Nebraska will play Oklahoma for all the marbles in the final Big 12 Conference Championship game, and plenty of Husker tickets are available for the big game this Saturday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The old Big Eight rivals qualified for Saturday's championship game after getting big wins over old conference foes during the Thanksgiving weekend. On Friday, the Huskers dismissed Colorado with a commanding 45-17 victory, while Oklahoma outscored in-state rival Oklahoma State on Saturday night in a 47-41 shootout in Stillwater, Okla.
The Huskers won the North Division title, as their win over Missouri gave them the tie-breaker with both teams finishing 6-2 in conference play. Oklahoma's South Division title was a little tougher to determine, as they were part of a three-way tie along with Oklahoma State and Texas A&M. The Sooners were the highest-ranked of the three teams in the current BCS standings, coming in at No. 9 (OSU was 14th, A&M 18th), giving Oklahoma the nod.
Saturday's matchup is the second meeting between the two schools in the championship game. Nebraska lost to Oklahoma in the 2006 Big 12 title game. This is Oklahoma's seventh trip to the big game, while Nebraska is making its fourth appearance.

Busy week ahead for Huskers

Whether you're a football or a basketball fan, it's a good week to have Husker tickets as both teams will have some high-profile matchups on deck in the next week.

The Husker football team closes out its final regular season in the Big 12 Conference on Friday, as they play host to the Colorado Buffaloes. It's the final time the two teams will meet as conference opponents, as both teams are moving to new conferences next season. Nebraska, of course, is moving to the Big Ten Conference, while Colorado joins Utah in the new Pac 12 Conference.

If the Huskers win on Friday, they will be North Division champions for the second straight year and will play in the Big 12 Conference Championship Game on Saturday, Dec. 4, against either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State, in the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. It will be Nebraska's last game as a member of the Big 12 Conference, and they will be looking for their second conference championship with a win over either the Sooners or Cowboys.

For basketball fans out there, the Husker basketball team is back from their early-season holiday tournament in Puerto Rico and will have a couple of high-profile matchups in the week ahead.

On Saturday, the Huskers play host to traditional Pac 10 power USC, who will be making a rare trip east to play in the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Huskers will also have their annual home matchup with in-state rival Creighton in a Sunday, Dec. 5 showdown at 1 p.m.

Gill making his return to Nebraska this week

Fans with Husker tickets are getting ready for a big home game Saturday, as Nebraska takes on longtime rival Kansas in a 6 p.m. matchup at Memorial Stadium.
The Nebraska-Kansas rivalry is one of the longest-running rivalries in all of college football, dating back to the 1890's. It is a rivalry that has been dominated by Nebraska, and it takes on a new twist when the two teams meet on Saturday.
The head coach at Kansas is a familiar face to Husker fans. Turner Gill took over the reins of the Jayhawks' program this past season, and he will return to the stadium where he made his mark as a legendary quarterback for the Huskers in the 1980's. Gill led Nebraska to four Big Eight championships and came within one two-point conversion pass of leading the Huskers to a national championship.
After his playing days, Gill came back to Nebraska and served as an assistant coach under Tom Osborne and Frank Solich. He eventually made his way into the head coaching world, turning a once-awful University of Buffalo into a competitive program. He came to Kansas to help return the Jayhawks to the top of the BIg 12 North Division.
