Football fans always like to second-guess the coaches from the stands. In Saturday's 55-0 win over Louisiana-Lafayette, a certain famous Husker fan got to feel what it's like to walk the sidelines.
Comedian Larry the Cable Guy was a guest coach during the 300th consecutive sellout in Nebras's Memorial Stadium, and he got to enjoy the entire experience. He ate with the team, rode the team bus to the stadium, and listened intently to coach Bo Pelini's pregame speech. He was also in the locker room with the team at halftime and after the game, and he said he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Dan Whitney, the man behind the Cable Guy persona, is a lifelong Husker fan who grew up in the small town of Pawnee City. He and his family moved to Florida when he was in high school, but he always maintained his love for Husker football. After he rose to fame for his comedic talents, he became a Husker season ticket holder and enjoys watching the games from his skybox. He was in the North Stadium when the reconstruction took place a few years ago, but now has a skybox on the west side of the stadium.
The Huskers will have this weekend off, but return to action Thursday, Oct. 8 when they kick off the Big 12 portion of their schedule against the Missouri Tigers. Missouri is the defending North Division champion and will be looking to continue their run of success against the Huskers. Nebraska hasn't beaten Missouri in Columbia since 2001, but the 3-1 Huskers will be in position to knock the Tigers off their perch when they meet.
